In the profession of Engineering or Architecture, it is required to generate drawings. An engineering technician who makes these detailed technical drawings is called a draftsman. So a draftsman actually do drafting and prepared the drawings for working out. In the past, draftsmen sat at drawing boards and used pencils, pens, compasses, triangles, and other drafting devices to prepare a drawing by hand. The fashion starts to change from manual hand drawing to Computer-Aided Design (CAD). In 1959 MIT researcher Douglas T. Ross First proposed the term Computer-Aided Design (CAD). In 1963 Sketchpad’s program was written by Ivan Sutherland in his course of the Ph.D. thesis. It is considered to be the predecessor of modern computer-aided design. Autodesk was founded in 1982 by John Walker and then this company brings AutoCAD in the market as a drafting software.

 

The application of AutoCAD is so much vast to tell in the modern field of engineering and architecture. Any kind of drawing including 2D or 3D can be generated through the help of AutoCAD.
